STM Alumni Association Scholarships
Over $80,000 in scholarships have been awarded for the 2013-2014 Academic Year. The recipients have been contacted, and many were present at the Communion Breakfast on April 14th. Applications for the 2014-2015 Academic Year are now available for downloading below, and are due for submission by December 31, 2013. Please note that there are two different forms for students inside and outside the Philadelphia Archdiocese. If possible, print or photocopy your application form onto the front and back of a single sheet of paper.
Awards now available to students outside of the Philadelphia Archdiocese
A few years ago, a new fund was started to parallel the legendary STMAA Archdiocesan Scholarship Fund. It is called the STMAA National Catholic Education Fund, and it is designed to help Catholic High School students who are not within the Philadelphia Archdiocese. Because the fund is still in its infancy, it was only able to make 6 grants for the 2013-2014 academic year. All awards will be summarized in the next issue of Bear Tracks.
To be considered for a STMAA Scholarship or Award, the nominee must...
- Be related to or recommended by an STM Alumnus;
- Plan on attending a Catholic High School for the 2014-2015 academic year;
- Be active in school, sports, or church activities;
- Have a good academic record;
- Be involved in community service.
How to make a contribution to the STMAA Scholarship Funds:
Donations may be made payable to “STMAA” and mailed to P.O. Box 294, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. If you care to, you may specify that donations go to the Archdiocesan Fund, the National Fund, or the General Expense Fund. Donations that do not specify the category will be divided equally between the Archdiocesan and National Funds.
Pennsylvania businesses may also make contributions under the EITC Program (Education Improvement Tax Credit) or the OSTC Program (Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit). For details and forms for these plans, please contact Dan D’Urso, CPA at 610-517-7630 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or John Millon, CPA at 610-721-9365 or email@example.com.
A sincere “Thank You” to all the alumni members, family, and friends of St. Thomas More who have added our Association as a beneficiary in their wills. Our gratitude also goes out to the families who, in a time of profound grief, remember to request donations to our Association in lieu of flowers.
Please be assured of our gratitude and that your Golden Bear will be remembered... forevermore.
